jagadishpur lake
It is lies in the terai of central Nepal, west of Lumbini. This reservoir is the largest in the country with area of 157 ha and with surrounding wetlands the area is approximately 225 ha. It is 197 meter from sea level & constructed for the purpose of irrigation over the location of Jakira Lake and surrounding agricultural land in the early 1970’s. The reservoir is surrounded by cultivated land and there are two smaller lakes known as Sagarhawa and Nigliha situated in the area that serve as buffer habitat for bird movements. The wetland area was declared a Ramsar site in 2003 mainly on basis of migratory water birds and threatened mammals found in the area.
Jagadishpur Lake is home of
139 species of bird and many more species are likely to occur. The site is provides an important habitat for resident, wintering and passage migrant wetland and small passerine birds.
39 species of fish, 30 species of reptiles 8 species of amphibians.

Ferruginous Pochard, Sarus Crane, Black – bellied Tern, White – rumped vulture, Slender – billed Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Indian Spotted Eagle, Darter, Lesser Adjutant, Ducks and Geese, Terns and Gulls, pheasant – tailed Jacana amongst others.

Lumbini – Jagadishpur 38 kilometer only. After day birding backed to Lumbini will be better.
For winter and summer visitor birds whole year will equally important.
