Sankhu
Located in the Northwestern part of the valley lies the ancient human settlement Sankhu. It is close by the river Salinadi. Legend tells that King Shankaradeva established this city in the shape of a conch shell ( Shankha ) and dedicated it to the goddess Bajrayogini, whose shrine is located a short distance above.
Around Sankhu in two parts Salinadi & Bajrayogini is good habitat for birdlife.
